Golden hour is absolutely worth planning around at McGovern Centennial Gardens.
I typically recommend beginning your engagement session about 90 minutes before sunset. The soft evening light filters beautifully through the trees, adds warmth to the gardens, and creates a dreamy glow throughout the entire park.
If you’d like the Houston skyline in your photos, we’ll make sure to save that portion of the session for when the light is at its best.
One thing to keep in mind is that the gardens can be busy on weekends, especially during the spring. Weekday evenings usually offer a little more privacy and a slower pace.
What to Wear
Because the gardens are already full of color, I usually recommend outfits that complement the scenery rather than compete with it.
