There are some wedding days where you look at the forecast and think, well… this could be interesting.
April 18th was one of those days.Isabelle & Cullen got married at Addison Woods Events in The Woodlands, Texas, on a day when Houston was fully expecting a storm. It had already been raining, the forecast was looking questionable, and everyone was quietly hoping we could at least make it through the ceremony before the weather decided to do its thing.
And somehow, it did.
The rain stopped. The temperature dropped. The sky stayed perfectly cloudy. We got the ceremony and all of their portraits in without a single drop of rain.
Honestly? Houston finally decided to cooperate.
A little putt-putt, a little pre-reception dance party
Before the day really got going, the guys squeezed in a round of putt-putt before getting ready. Meanwhile, the girls were getting ready and soaking in all the excitement of the morning.
And once the girls were ready? They headed straight to the reception space for an early dance party.
Because why wait until the reception to start having fun?
It was one of my favorite little moments of the day. Everyone was already hyped, the energy was there, and it felt very Isabelle & Cullen — relaxed, playful, and ready to actually enjoy their wedding day.
Color everywhere, in the best way
The florals were so fun.
Bright, colorful, and completely perfect for a spring wedding, they brought so much life into the day without feeling overly polished or predictable. The reception tables leaned into a butter-yellow palette, with thoughtful details throughout — including little nods to their ridiculously cute dachshund.
Basically, if you love a colorful wedding, this one delivered.
And I’m always here for wedding details that actually feel like the couple instead of just looking pretty for the sake of looking pretty.
A family heirloom down the aisle
One of my favorite details from Isabelle’s wedding day was her veil.
She wore a family heirloom that had been passed down through multiple generations, making an already beautiful part of her outfit feel that much more meaningful.
There’s something about photographing pieces like that — something that has existed through several weddings and several chapters of a family — that makes you slow down and pay attention.
And then… the weather actually behaved
The ceremony took place outside underneath a massive, beautiful tree, which was already a pretty incredible setting.
But with the storm coming, we were all watching the sky.
The plan was basically: get everyone married, get some portraits, and hope for the best.
Instead, we got this beautiful cool, cloudy weather that honestly couldn’t have been better for photos. No harsh sun, no rain, just that soft Texas spring light that makes everything feel a little more cinematic.
The ceremony happened. The portraits happened. And then, eventually, the storm could have its turn.
We won.
Outfit change = party mode
After the ceremony and portraits, Isabelle changed into a reception outfit and the whole energy shifted.
The party was popping.
It was one of those receptions where nobody needed much convincing to get on the dance floor. The kind where you’re looking around and realizing that everyone is actually having a really, really good time.
Which, in my opinion, is exactly what a wedding reception should be.
Not perfect.
Not overly choreographed.
Just a bunch of people you love, in one room, dancing way too hard and celebrating the fact that you finally got married.
Every part of Isabelle & Cullen’s wedding felt intentional without feeling overly precious. From the colorful spring florals and butter-yellow tablescape to the dachshund details, the family heirloom veil, the pre-wedding putt-putt, and the very necessary early dance party — it all felt like them.
The entire day was planned, coordinated, and designed by Addison Woods Events, with Churology bringing the dessert situation to life.
And despite the weather forecast threatening to ruin our plans, the day ended up being exactly what we needed: cool, cloudy, colorful, a little chaotic, and a damn good time.
Which is really all you can ask for.
